AUGUST 13 – FEAST DAY OF BLESSED MICHAEL McGIVNEY
The Knights of Columbus honored their founder, Blessed Father Michael J. McGivney, by attending the 9 AM Mass as a group on Friday Aug. 13, the liturgical memorial observed annually on the day in-between his birth (Aug. 12) and death (Aug. 14). In March 2008, Pope Benedict XVI declared Father McGivney “a Venerable Servant of God,” citing the “remarkable accomplishment of that exemplary American priest” in founding the Knights of Columbus in 1882. On October 31, 2020, Pope Francis declared him "Blessed".
The statue of Father McGivney in the narthex was obtained through the efforts of the late Brother Knight John Leahy, and dedicated August 18, 2013. Click here to read the report of the dedication (left) which appeared in the St. Augustine Record on August 30, 2013.

COUNCIL RECEIVES AWARD AT STATE CONVENTION
Bishop Verot Assembly 0166 Faithful Navigator Mac McGowan receives the Bronze Sponsor Award from the state Ultrasound Initiative for the Assembly and all four councils in District 16 for our donations to provide a new ultrasound machine for St. Gerard Campus. The awards were presented to Mac by General State Programs Director Lorenzo Rodriguez in an awards ceremony at the Florida State Convention held in Orlando May 28-29, 2021
