NEW SONOGRAM FOR ST. GERARD CAMPUS

Joining the other four councils in District 17 and Bishop Verot Assembly 0166, Co. 7121 agreed to commit to raising $2500 during October (Respect Life Month) without the slightest idea of how we were going to do this.

Donations were accepted in the St. Anastasia narthex at all Masses on the weekends of Oct 17-18 and Oct 24-25.

Contributions totaled $3567.  Our $2500 pledge is on its way to KC Charities Inc, which will match the $12,500 collected by St. Augustine Knights.  A new ultrasound machine will be purchased as part of the KC Charities Ultrasound Initiative, which has placed over 1100 sonogram machines to pro-life pregnancy centers in all 50 states, Mexico, Canada, South America, and Africa since 2009.

The extra $1067 raised is on its way to the St. Gerard Campus Pregnancy Center, an independent, non-political, non-sectarian facility designed to assist pregnant teenagers and unwed mothers, providing assistance and referrals for medical care, educational needs, or job services to all women, regardless of age, marital status, race or religion.  They rely solely on donations, fund raising efforts, in-kind contributions and grants to support their programs.  Thank you for your generosity!

UPDATE APRIL 2021: Lecturer John Alexander, chairman of the Board of Directors of St. Gerard Campus, reports that the sonogram has been ordered, with plans being made for installation and training.

BLESSED FATHER MICHAEL J. McGIVNEY BEATIFICATION

Father Michael McGivney’s beatification Mass took place on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Hartford, Connecticut. At that liturgical celebration, an apostolic letter from the Holy Father was read along with the bestowing of the title “Blessed” on Father McGivney. This is the step just prior to sainthood. An additional miracle attributed to Father McGivney’s intercession will be required for his canonization as a saint.

A free livestream on-demand video of the latest KofC documentary “Father Michael McGivney: An American Blessed”, in honor of his Beatification Mass. This short film explores the life, legacy and impact of Father Michael McGivney, the founder of the Knights of Columbus, recognized today as the apostle of spiritual brotherhood and unity.  The KofC YouTube channel airing of this video is available on demand by clicking the photo below:
