FR. SEAMUS O'FLYNN SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED

The 2019 Father Seamus O’Flynn Scholarship Awards were presented after the 10:30 Mass on June 16 to eleven students from St. Anastasia who will be attending Cathedral Parish School or St. Joseph Academy Catholic High School next fall.  Bob Wesselman (left), along with Fr. Tim, Paul Doran, and Grand Knight Tom Kelly (back row), presented $500 certificates to Ethan Senderling, Karina Hemelt, Amelia Snodgrass, Monica Brown, Brooke Meeks, Chandler DuBrow, Lucas Hesson, Mateo Hesson, Ella Grace Eavenson, Darcy (non-scholarship) and Natalie Schoonover.  Not pictured: Abby Ott, altar server at 8:00 am Mass.

KNIGHTS COOK VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL LUNCH

Council 7121 grilled and fried their way through 240 lunches for the VBS students, their parents, guests and staff on Friday, June 14.  Left, diners gather in Celebration Hall; right, Derek DuBrow and Steve Barthelmes load hot food out of the fryer.

52 Brothers, spouses and guests (below) enjoyed a great grilled chicken dinner on June 6 provided by Chef Fred Hernandez, left, who found that the new grill can be pulled under the back patio if it starts raining.  Bev MacDonald (below, right) enjoys getting  $85 in the 50/50 pot.  Thanks also to Tom Alexander for the keg of  FREE BEER!

THE COUNCIL ETERNAL
Council 7121 paid its respects to Brother Rosalino ("Ros") Gonzales at his funeral service held June 3.  Thank you to the 4th Degree Color Guard and the 15 Brothers who attended the Mass, followed by a columbarium interment ceremony.

WELCOME NEW BROTHER
PATRICK PETRICK
Council 7121 welcomes its newest member, Brother Patrick Petrick, who joined the order in a First Degree Exemplification held May 14 at  Fr. Rene Robert Council 11046 (San Sebastian). Patrick is a retired teacher, long-time member (33 years) of St. Anastasia parish, sponsored by his neighbor Alex Stamatelos.
FR. TIM  CELEBRATES 25 YEARS AS A PRIEST
Chaplain Fr. Tim Lindenfelser was joined by 9  priests, 4 deacons, the 4th Degree Color Guard, many of his Brother Knights, family, friends, and several hundred St. Anastasia parishioners at a special Mass held May 10 on the occasion  of the 25th anniversary of his ordination.

Over 30 Brothers, wives, and friends gathered in Celebration Hall to impress each other with their recipes for paella, taco salads, carne asada, churros, tres leches, and ablitiy to squeeze a lime slice into a Corona bottle.  Thanks to hosts Tommy & Krystal Murphy, and Bill Remy for handling the 50/50, won by  Bob Wesselman.

Dinner was a huge success, filling the coffers for another round of scholarships to Cathedral Parish School and St. Joseph Academy.  Big "Atta Boy" goes to chairman Bill Remy, emcee JD, and cooks Steve Barthelmes and John Richards and crew.

The bartenders had a busy afternoon

 

The sales and marketing department took charge and coaxed the sports fans into donating $201 to the 50/50 pot.  Big winner Ed Mulvey donated his entire share back to the council.

GOURMET CHEFS

The Gurus of Gastronomy and  Maestros of Mustard manned the grill for the annual Youth Group Garage Sale on Oct. 6.
